Saree Size Guide
Everything you need to know about saree measurements and styling
Standard Saree Measurements
All sarees from Premam Silks come in standard measurements unless otherwise specified on the product page:
- Saree Length: 5.5 meters (approximately 6 yards), including the pallu.
- Saree Width: 1.1 to 1.2 meters (approximately 44-47 inches).
- Blouse Piece: 0.8 meters (approximately 32 inches) of unstitched blouse material is included with each saree.
Choosing the Right Saree
While sarees are one-size-fits-most, choosing the right fabric and drape can enhance your look based on your body type:
- Petite Frame: Opt for lightweight silks with smaller borders and delicate patterns. Avoid very heavy or stiff fabrics that may overwhelm your frame.
- Tall Frame: You can carry heavy Kanjivaram and Banarasi sarees beautifully. Wide borders and bold patterns complement your height.
- Curvy Frame: Choose sarees with vertical patterns or thin borders for an elongating effect. Soft draping fabrics like Mysore silk work wonderfully.
- Slim Frame: Sarees with rich textures, wide borders, and heavy pallu add volume and elegance. Kanjivaram sarees are an excellent choice.
Draping Styles
The beauty of a saree lies in how you drape it. Here are the most popular draping styles:
- Nivi Drape: The most common and widely worn style. The saree is wrapped around the waist, with the pallu draped over the left shoulder. Suitable for all occasions and body types.
- Gujarati Style: Similar to the Nivi drape, but the pallu is brought from the back over the right shoulder and then draped across the front. Often worn during festivals and weddings.
- Maharashtrian Style: The saree is draped like a dhoti with the pallu pinned at the back. This style is elegant and allows for ease of movement. Traditional for Maharashtrian celebrations.
